2002 Prototype Debut!
HOME.
The 3 day Trial Santigosa this year was a shake-down for many of the World's top riders. With the World Championship series starting only a week later, this Trial was very important to the big stars. The results were a surprise to many. Amos Bilbao was the overall winner on 35 points.

The biggest news of the event was the incredibly strong showing of rising Gas Gas Star Adam Raga, who was 4th on day one, 3rd on day 2, and climbed to 2nd on day 3! He finished on 35 points... the same as Amos, but missed out on the overall win on cleans. In the process, Adam beat Dougie Lampkin!

Adam was debuting the prototype ultra-lightweight 2002 Gas Gas. The bike was dressed in the 2001 plastic, but the trained eye could easily spot the new frame and motor. Technical details are not yet available, but the motor is obviously very compact and light-weight.

The new prototype clearly suited Adam. Over the course of the event he beat everyone on one day or another. Dougie Lampkin, Marc Freixa, Albert Cabestany, David Cobos, Graham Jarvis AND Amos Bilbao.

In terms of overall scores for the event, Amos finished on 35, Adam Raga on 35, Dougie on 37, , and Marc Freixa on 37. Next up was Graham Jarvis on 49, then Cabestany, Cobos, and a host of other Stars. Gas Gas were overjoyed with Adam's result, and with the performance of the prototype. For a first competitive outing, this was a phenomenal result.

Look out for Adam, Steve Colley, Marc Colomer and Jordi Pasquet on the new machine at the forthcoming World Championship events!
