Home. Back. ...... The Gas Gas Guru. Technical Information.
JON,

I live in Victoria,B.C. ,on Vancouver Island. My riding conditions are: temperature ranges from -2 to 15 degrees celcius, wet and muddy in the winter, dry and dusty in the spring/summer.the humidity today is 93%. We generaly ride very tight trails with lots of hills and rocks that we ride up. I normally ride in 3rd gear with alot of idle to half throttle use. The bike always gets a good full throttle clean out at the end of our rides. I run Chevron 94 octane fuel with opti oil (100-1) I still don't feel comfortable at that oil ratio ! I hope this is enough info if not e mail me if you need more.By the way, your web site says "server cannot be found" It started to do it this week.

Thanks Paul

Paul,

Lets give the following a try, assuming that everything else, including the reeds, float level, muffler packing etc., is o.k.

Main jet: 116
Pilot jet: 35 or 36
Needle: 2 from top
Mixture screw: 3 or 4 turns out
NGK BP5EV or Bosch WR8DP plug set at .024"
Oil mixture at 80:1- full synthetic (same as I run my 96' 370 at)

To adjust the mixture screw, start at 3 or 4 turns out. Blip the throttle lightly and quickly, and adjust the screw in or out to give the best response. The mixture screw influences the first 1/8th of the throttle setting and has a big affect on throttle response. Gas-Gas recommends 95 octane. If you have any amount of pinging, at any throttle setting, mix about 30% unleaded race gas.

Let me know if this helps.

Jon
